Sovereignty and goodness.

Andy Johnson gave a great talk last night at evening service. He said in counseling people for the last several years, he's found that whenever there's a spiritual heart issue it always lies in not trusting God's sovereignty, not trusting God's goodness, or not trusting either. Moreover, those who believe both that God is sovereign and God is good still find trouble trusting Him because the foundation is not on Christ and the Word, but on daily circumstances. Convicting food for thought.

General Updates:
  • Having lunch with a friend that I met at Boren orientation. Pray for my time with him.
  • Matt and I are heading out to VA this afternoon to spend time with Fawaz and most likely his father as well. Pray for us both, that we would know how to love him well.
  • Have a lead in regards to summer internships at the Dept of the Interior through Margaret Bradley. Hopefully this will work out!
Reading Updates:
  • I found it rather odd that I meet up with Jonathan, but haven't actually read his book. So I started working slowly through The Church and the Surprising Offense of God's Love a few days ago.
  • Concurrently reading Gregory Gause III's Oil Monarchies, which I bought for a class on US foreign policy in the Gulf last semester, but we never were assigned readings from it. This is also the reason for "working slowly" through Jonathan's book.
