Time really passes quickly; I didn't realize I hadn't posted since Monday and it's now Thursday. I had an interesting birthday. Had my Boren orientation and then (as part of the Boren orientation) went and met Eleanor Norton, the one US House Representative from DC, who doesn't in fact have the ability to vote on legislation. She was pretty awesome though. We only got to spend about 15 minutes chatting, and most of that was spent walking to the Capitol because she was going for a vote (yes, I'm confused about this as well). I was able to snag a photo as we were in the elevator; apparently the people in the elevator with us were not amused.
On the shuttle ride back to the Rayburn House Building, I saw John Kerry, who was boarding as I was getting off. Cool beans. Later tonight I'll be grabbing my first alcoholic beverage being 21 with Dangus. More cool beans. Speaking of Dangus, here's the Colbert Report interview of Eleanor Norton that he showed me right after my meeting with her:

Boren orientation was interesting; learned a few new things about the hiring process post-study abroad. I was able to meet a Boren Scholar going to Taiwan for a year abroad this upcoming Fall, he was a nice guy; he's even going to be volunteering at the US Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo. I'm hoping to hang out with him again sometime before he heads out since he lives in Alexandria.
