"Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man that trusts in Him."
I love how the Psalmist is so emphatic on this point: if you taste, you will see that God is good. The tangible images of tasting and seeing bring to mind the exhortation we receive at the Lord's Supper at CHBC, to feed on Christ by faith. The proposition that tasting leads to seeing God is good entails that if we do not see God as good, we have not truly tasted. Tasting seems to imply something deeper than just reading the Bible or praying a litany of prayer requests, which may simply take us to the table, but does not necessarily mean we are eating. I think we all functionally doubt God's goodness all the time, whenever we grumble, complain, or get sinfully anxious; but in the midst of it we should remind ourselves that we have tasted and have seen that God is good.
General Updates:
- Went to the Natural History Museum with Kaitlyn, Ken, Stephan (visiting friend from MI), and Amber. While there, I had an epiphany that museums aren't zoos. I was getting bored with all the dead fossils and was waiting for the live animals and they weren't showing up! Good think the insect section had live ones...diving beetles are so cool!
- Teaching Sunday school during core seminars for the first time. The lesson is on the Golden Calf!
- Reading Central Asian history is sick!
