I found this in the April 2010 CHBC Messenger (they have copies in the church office). I found the list helpful and convicting at several points.
10 Ways to Identify Selfishness in Your Life:
- How do you respond when other people's decisions or mistakes affect your plans?
- How do you decide what you're going to do with your spare time, and who do you usually spend it on?
- Are you happier when the group you're with does what you want to do, even when you're in the minority?
- Do you tend to spend money on gifts for others or for yourself?
- How often do you volunteer to do things you don't like to do, or aren't the best at, simply because it needs to be done?
- Are you regularly, or habitually, viewing pornography?
- How often have you made friends with people who can't, or don't, enhance your social or career status?
- How do you respond when others make legitimate demands on you?
- Are you more concerned with your appearance or reputation than with your character?
- Are you slow to commit, afraid of missing a better opportunity?
General Updates:
- Packed schedule today, with three classes. Going to talk about Obama's foreign policy at my US Policy in the Gulf class this morning.
- Having dinner with Remy...I'm torn between making chicken and broccoli curry or tortellini bolongese.
- Was contacted by Mansfield Foundation for an internship interview yesterday, so I'll be having it on Friday morning.
